Instructional Design, User Interface Design, and Learner Engagement online

I've been thinkg of User Interface Design, Instructional Design, and learner engagement online of late.

This is especially interesting to me because of the project I'm working on at present. Most online learning environments, have clear motivations (often extrinsic) to support their learners in working through their online learning materials - marks or grades, a certification, etc. My present project attempts to support people in their ongoing professional development and their day-to-day work. It is voluntary, free, and expects the adult professional audience accessing the site to be pretty self-regulated and motivated in setting their goals and working through the materials.

Due to their busy professional lives, such a space needs to be easy and quick to use, engaging & relevant.

With this in mind a recent tweet by @ caught my eye: The 7 tricks (you) can learn from game designers . .
